What a buyer should know

Who it suits

The Mana 23 is the outlier in Rand's range: not a petrol hull with a motor fitted, but a boat conceived around electric propulsion and a sociable, low-speed way of using it. At seven metres and a 12-knot ceiling, it is aimed squarely at inland and sheltered water — lakes, fjords, canals, estuaries and the growing number of European waterways with speed or emissions restrictions. It suits buyers who want a large, open, easily-handled deck for friends and a swim, and who genuinely do not care about planing. It is the wrong boat for open coastal passages or anyone who will resent being overtaken.

What the numbers mean

Twelve knots is the headline, and it is honest rather than shy: it places the Mana firmly in displacement and semi-displacement territory, where electric propulsion is at its most efficient and where a modest battery goes a very long way. That efficiency is the point of the boat.

The caveats are gaps rather than flaws. Our data carries no battery capacity, no range and no price for this model, so the three questions a buyer most needs answered are all unpublished here. Rand also builds combustion boats, though the Mana is one of the few models where that is not really a consideration.

Written from the builder’s published specifications and the wider market, not from testing the boat ourselves. Always confirm figures with the manufacturer before committing.
